Patient dies at civil hospital, kin booked for attacking doctor
Phagwara: After the family of a critically injured patient, who succumbed to his injuries, assaulted an emergency medical officer in civil hospital Phagwara, a case for attempt to murder, assault obstructing an official on duty, rioting and criminal intimidation was registered against them. It is learnt that the injured youth was hit by a train.
According to the FIR lodged by Dr Ashish Jaitley, critically injured Anuj Singh was brought to the emergency with head injuries. He told the patient's attendants that he needed to be kept in the intensive care unit, but they insisted that treatment should be started. He said soon the patient died in the emergency ward and when he informed his family, they assaulted him. The doctor said that he was thrown on the floor with a cloth around his neck. He alleged that he almost choked and then he was also kicked in the chest while he was still lying on the ground. Other hospital staff and a patient's attendant saved him.
